CFT CV-19 Update #5

April 3, 2020

Dear Members,

As we finish up Week 3 of our school closure, I hope that everyone is staying home and managing their lives during this difficult time. Please take a DEEP BREATH. At this time, the “stay in place” order has been expanded until May 1st – in all probably, it looks like schools may not reopen this school year. The intent of the General Assembly is that these students will have the opportunity to access school facilities as soon as reasonably possible after

Now this “stay in place” order looks like it will most likely be extended, and the State Legislature passed HB 197 last evening, we have a better idea of the expectations including more clarity as we move forward. CFT will keep everyone updated as we move forward. The most important thing is for everyone to stay healthy and take care of yourselves. The district is changing their long-term protocol for people to work from home and will send out guidelines. It is important that

We hope that everyone is staying safe and we understand that these are difficult times for many of our members. The plans seem to be ever evolving as the situations change and more information is gathered. I have received many calls with questions, concerns and thanks for CFT.

I had my weekly call with Superintendent Mitchell and her Leadership Team to give all unions a district update. I will say that the Leadership Team and HR have been very cooperative helping us address individual concerns for our members. There is talk of extending the school closures until a later date –

Following an order from Governor DeWine, the District has announced that schools will be closed starting Tuesday March 17th to avoid spread of the coronavirus. Schools will remain closed at least through Friday, April 3rd. Today several individual CPS schools were closed based on concerns about potential Coronavirus infections in those school communities. Monitor local media and your own in school communications systems to confirm whether your school will be open Monday morning.
